I am enjoying the simplicity of using HTML and creating static pages. The overhead is lower. The pages load fast. I pay to support Neocities so I can use custom domains here. I have used WordPress and understand why it is popular, but for me, it is more fun to use a text editor to make a nice looking page, rather than a CMS that hides all of the markup language.
