I find it fascinating to watch airplanes. Either while sitting outside and watching them pass by in the sky or, if I can't do that, from my computer using an ADS-B aggregator. Planes from all over pass by my area since I'm not far away from Chicago.
It makes for interesting viewing since I love looking at airplanes, either looking skyward, the best way, or at a screen, if I can't be there in person.
I've been lucky to have seen aircraft I find exciting. I saw a 1973 Sikorsky S-61N helicopter fly overhead yesterday. Another time, I saw a blimp cruise over me as I was driving on I-65 on my way to go to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago.
Today, I saw a leased Airbus A320 that ICE uses to transport people it has rounded up cruise overhead at about 3,000 feet. I was able to take some pictures as it screamed through the sky on its way to the Gary Chicago International Airport.
It feels like I'm documenting a time in America we will look back on like we have on other periods, such as the Internment of Japanese-Americans, or the Trail of Tears. It all seems so orderly and tidy. The planes come in around the same time every week and stay close to their normal schedule. They fly off to their next location after people are loaded in while handcuffed.
A few hours later, I was thinking how glorious the blue skies are today as I came across a new bike path on a rails-to-trails corridor. I had forgotten about the plane while I was enjoying the sunshine and the thoughts of someplace new to explore. It demonstrates the banality of fascism. Next week, another ICE plane will pass by in the sky as we go about our normal lives.
